Natural Spa Supplies Savon Noir - Beldi (Hammam Spa Process - Step 1)

Size: 150g Jar
£15.00

Hammam Spa Process
At the start of the hammam process Savon Noir is rubbed in the body prior using the Gant de Gommage. The body and hair are then washed with Rhassoul. Finally oil, especially Argan oil is massaged into the skin. No wonder it is the right of every Moroccan woman to visit the hammam on a weekly basis.

Savon Noir
A traditional lightly aromatic gel soap, originating from the Maghreb. Derived from the hulls of the black olive which are cold pressed, the soap - rich in vitamin E - is suitable for all skin types but should not be used on damaged skin. Savon Noir purifies the epidermis and removes dead cells.

Directions
Exfoliation: Massage the Savon Noir into the wet body, particularly on any rough areas. Avoid the face, eyes and hair. The soap foams very little. Leave for between 3 and 10 minutes. Rinse off the soap, then massage all off the skin with an exfoliating glove or loofah. Rinse the body thoroughly with clean water. Savon Noir can be used weekly or as part of an everyday care routine. Adjust the timing and degree of exfoliation accordingly.

Shaving: Rub Savon Noir on the skin. Leave for a few minutes. Work into a lather with a shaving brush and shave. Rinse thoroughly afterwards and apply alum in place of aftershave.

Do not use on broken or damaged skin. Use before rather than after waxing or shaving. Excellent for wet shaving! If Savon Noir gets in the eyes, rinse with running water for 15 minutes.

Benefits
Deep cleans, removing toxins and dead skin cells, making skin softer and more translucent. The exfoliation activates the capillaries and lymph circulation. Savon Noir is rich in vitamin E and has an anti-microbial action.

Ethics
Based on ancient soap making skills, combining potash made from the wood ash of the laurel tree and black olive pressing in a metal pot over a camp fire. A traditional, secret recipe made in Casablanca. Biodegradable.

Argan Oil
Argan Oil is a truely exceptional oil, until recently a little known secret of the nomadic and pastoralist Berber tribes of Morocco. Protected by UNESCO, the Argan tree, which grows only in southern Morocco is an important species not only for its virtuous oil, but also for helping to prevent encroachment by the Sahara desert.

Only the ripe fruits are knocked off the tree. The fruits are gathered and sun-dried. The pulp is removed then the nut-like inner cases are cracked by Berber women between two stones (a hammer stone and stone anvil) in the time mannered tradition, revealing several kernels. The oil bearing kernel is then cold-pressed. It takes the combined harvest of 6-7 trees to create 1 litre of precious oil. Ecocert Certified. Argan oil has a mild toasted, nutty aroma.

Natural Spa Supplies Exfoliating Glove (Hammam Spa Process - Step 1)

£8.00

Hammam Spa Process
At the start of the hammam process Savon Noir is rubbed in the body prior using the Gant de Gommage. The body and hair are then washed with Rhassoul. Finally oil, especially Argan oil is massaged into the skin. No wonder it is the right of every Moroccan woman to visit the hammam on a weekly basis.

Exfoliating Glove (Gant de Gommage)
This glove with its grainulous texture is probably the most effective exfoliating glove on the market. It feels simply divine when it is stroked over the skin. Available all over Morocco, massage gloves such as these are known as 'kessa', 'kesse', in Arabic, or 'gant de gommage' in French. It is an essential part of the washing kit taken to the public baths, or hammams.

Directions
Exfoliation is recommended once a week, or more frequently if needed.

The glove can be used to perfom a dry exfoliation - just massage the body area with it. The glove can be used for wet exfoliation - rub the skin after soaking in the bath or shower.

However, this glove really comes into its own when it is used in combination with Savon Noir. This olive based soap is rubbed into the wet skin and left to perform its deep cleaning and skin softening action for between 3 and 10 minutes. Then the Savon Noir is rinsed off and the exfoliating glove is rubbed all over the skin. Layers of dead skin and impurities will roll off the body onto the glove. If you have not done this before - you will be astounded at how fresh and soft the skin feels after using the glove.

After use, rinse the glove and allow it to dry completely. Periodically wash by hand or in a machine. These gloves are made from nylon, so they can be machine washed in warm water. I would advise placing the exfoliating glove in a washing net if washing with other items, because it may damage fragile textiles. These gloves should not of course be ironed because they are made of nylon.

Benefits
Not only does this practise leave you skin feeling incredible, but the skin - with the dead outer layers - performs its health giving function much better. In addition, an exfoliation improves the circulation of the blood and lymph, improving the skin function from within.

Care Instructions:- It is recommended to wash at 40 degrees centigrade or lower. Do not iron or tumble dry. Wash dark colours separately.

Glove is 100% nylon. Cuff is Elastine.

Natural Spa Supplies 'Pumice de Leban' Black Pumice Stone

£9.00

Collected from mountain summits in Lebanon, these pumice stones were ejected as foamy lather from a now extinct volcano. These 'Pumice de Leban' will add an air of elegance to any bath suite. The stone has large pores giving it a very effective exfoliating action. Look after it, and it will last for many years. The stones are generally black but due to the natural variation, a few are dark grey, and some reddish black. Pumice, chiefly composed of silicon is technically a form of natural glass.

Exfoliate areas of hard skin, to stimulate circulation and to make the skin feel more comfortable.

Directions
Rub gently onto area of thick skin such on the feet and toes, elbows and knees. It is ideal if these areas have been soaked in water or Savon Noir first. If you have not used a pumice stone for some time, do not try to remove all the hard skin in one go, instead just try to introduce this kind of exfoliation on a regular basis.

Care Instructions:- Take care not to drop this stone to avoid damaging bathroom fixtures or damaging the stone. After use scrub the pumice stone with a stiff bristle brush, then allow to dry after use.
