The Forget-Me-Not Ball, 6.30pm 15th July, The West Wing, Ickworth House, Suffolk

This year another 40,000 women in the UK will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer – causing heartache for women, their families and friends as they battle this indiscriminate condition. What is so shocking is at least 50%of cases have not attributable cause. This begs the question ‘then what is behind the increasing number of diagnoses?’ Breast cancer is a preventable disease, a growing body of evidence indicates that if we address the wider environmental picture then we can radically reduce the number of women that are diagnosed with Breast Cancer. This is where you can make a difference and help in this effort…

This year we are holding our second Ball – The Forget-Me-Not Ball - to be held on July 15th 2006, at The West Wing, Ickworth House in Suffolk. Funds raised are to be donated to an organisation with a long history dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer. Breast Cancer UK believes environmental factors are linked to the disease and by raising public awareness on this, they aim to see the elimination of all harmful substance that can contribute to breast cancer. Like Breast Cancer UK we believe passionately that we ignore the environmental links to breast cancer at our peril and while this may seem obvious to us, to many others it is a matter they would rather not have to address. This situation can no longer be ignored.

Our inspiration has, and will always be, our most extraordinary friend, Rhona Damant, a young mother of two, battling terminal cancer with courage, dignity and determination. Rhona has done much to raise awareness and funds in respect of various cancer charities, many of you will be aware that she has written a book; her story has been told in a award winning documentary and she has had the honour of being presented to the Queen in recognition of her fund raising work. But now she has decided with the time she has left the battle has to be for prevention and TO STOP BREAST CANCER HAPPENING IN THE FIRST PLACE.

The quality and integrity of this event is very important to all involved - from the food and wine, to the music and entertainment, to the raffle and auction prizes. So, please join Rhona and ourselves at this beautiful venue for a very special evening.

Be part of the first UK fundraiser of this type being held for an organisation drawing attention to this aspect of the breast cancer debate - environmental links to the disease.

Please book early.
