Bonnie Baby founder and designer, Tracey Samuel, tells Pecha Kucha about the formation of her company and her aim to bring beautiful clothing to babies…

Allow me to introduce Bonnie Baby, a refreshing collection of luxury knitwear which includes the ever popular 'Cuddle Me Cashmere' range and which caters for newborn babies to two-year-old tots.

Bonnie Baby was born in 2005 after the birth of my daughter Alice Bee and, like her, the company has been developing and growing ever since. As a new mum I was disappointed by the range of high quality, well designed clothing for babies and so I decided to utilise over ten years’ experience as a fashion designer, most recently with Paris fashion house Sonia Rykiel, and took the plunge to set up Bonnie Baby.

Our aim is to produce well designed clothing from natural fibres that combine quality and comfort for little ones. Bearing this in mind, we set about developing our unique Cuddle Me Cashmere yarn which produces the softest knitwear that babies love to have next to their skin (and mums love to cuddle!). Of course with my new found experience as a mum, I made sure that all our products are machine washable to make life a bit easier! We also use traditional methods to create fully-fashioned knitwear for added comfort and all Bonnie Baby garments have special design touches such as logo buttons and hand embroidered details.

Our fresh approach to design has quickly become the style choice for the “discerning little one” (Junior Magazine) and Bonnie Baby has become the label of choice for many celebrities and their children, including Jamie Oliver’s children, Crown Prince Christian of Denmark and Gwyneth Paltrow who sent us a beautiful note saying, “We fell in love with the quality and softness”.
