FLAMMA Ltd based in London was created with the aim of designing and supplying a range of high quality eco leather bags to the global fashion market.

Our inspiration is to combine the craftsmanship of traditional bag making and modern unique design, with taking care of our environment. We only use the best quality organic leather that is vegetable tanned, so nothing artificial is used in the production. Quality of such leather is long lasting with time and use enhancing the beauty of each of our bags.

The 'Caly' Bag in Chocolate Brown and Iced White

Our luxurious eco range is very unusual, as we are one of the few brands in the designer area to use totally organic leathers in the manufacture of our eco bag collection. We spent a year and expended large amounts of money finding organic, eco-friendly components to build eco bags, using stitched artisan constructions as the basis for all products. Many of these stitched constructions are innovative and minimize the necessity for glue and toxins. The designs are classic and timeless and the ultimate antitheses of the disposable fashion that many are turning their backs on. We are also able to produce special colours and details with our unique bespoke service. Our craftsmen use their centuries old skills to create beautiful products.

Vegetable tanned leather is produced from carefully selected types of rawhide taken from Simmental cattle crossbred with “domestic” breeds, which are fed on high quality organic pastures in an area with specific climate conditions. Leather originating from such a cattle is of a prime quality, since its structure is good and its surface is undamaged and thick. Due to that structure of leather, which one can get only from organic cattle, such raw hide is ideal for vegetable tanning and finishing, which only add to its natural beauty and specific qualities.

The 'Bonny' Bag

There are only few tanning yards in the world where vegetable tanning is applied, in particular pure vegetable tanning (when no wet blueing is used). Hide is tanned with vegetable tanning materials and greased with natural oils, while its grain side is only slightly treated to underline the natural beauty of such a hide – ideal for being decorated by pressing or by high temperature, thus enabling the artists to express themselves. Today, when environmental pollution is threatening us, this leather becomes even more precious as its ecological.

Every little helps, with every eco product you buy you make a statement, increasing demand for natural farming and methods of production, non-exploitive to the environment and also the people living in it. It might be hard to believe that simply by buying an ethical product you are helping to save the planet, but if we all do our bit we really can make a difference. The leather industry is one of the worst offenders in terms of environmental damage.

We need above all else to show that another world is possible, that future should be beautiful and stylish, dynamic and creative, but it must above all else be genuinely sustainable or it is not much of a future.
