I started my company, Daisy Dumpling, in July 2000 by making greetings cards for my friends and relatives and then selling the cards at church hall fairs and local markets.

In 2006 I realised that I needed a new challenge and, after reading an American mystery novel that mentioned knitting washcloths, I realised that it had been a very long time since I had tried to knit or crochet after being taught by my grandmother when I was a little girl. As soon as I picked up either knitting needles or crochet hooks the creative juices started to flow and Daisy’s Little Shoes were born. Shortly after that I expanded the range to include crocheted hats and headbands, all designed by me as I found I had little patience to follow a printed pattern and there were so many restrictions on using printed patterns to make items to sell.

With so many reports regarding global warming and the effects of chemicals on us, I am studying hard to find ways and yarns to use that will be easy on the environment and on us. Therefore, most of my range is made using natural fibres and will shortly be expanded to include organic yarns. Watch this space!
