and what she hopes her label will achieve. I started Anatomy after working in and with the fashion industry for many years - becoming increasingly unhappy about the conditions and wages of the people working in the production of unrealistically cheap, poor quality, high street clothing. I couldn’t go on ignoring all the issues that concerned me, both environmentally and in animal welfare, as I am vegetarian and abhor the return of real fur to the catwalks. Knowing there were many people with the same concerns I realised I could do something to make a difference- that there was a rising demand for fair-trade, organic and ethical fashion. With Anatomy I wanted to persuade an increasingly aware consumer that making the decision to pay a little more for ethical clothing will not only help the environment but will help support designers working ethically as well as invigorating our tiny clothing manufacturing industry, which has suffered so much due to unfair competition and lack of investment. In return for this support we can give them contemporary, stylish fashion to rival anything on the high street. Anatomy uses natural / organic fabric such as hemp, cotton, linen, tencel and peace silk from sustainable and ethical sources. Where dyes are used they are natural or low impact dyes so lowering the risk to the environment and our health and well being. Anatomys' clothes combine sophistication with simplicity, both classic and retro with contemporary design. Ultimately our clothes are about looking good and having the choice to make a difference.
